Volunteering within Our Community for Duke of Edinburgh

As part of our community engagement strategy, we seek opportunities to assist Duke of Edinburgh Award partnerships to complete their service component. To achieve this, we facilitate the Mosman Youth Bush Club which is a nature-based and environmentally focused volunteering program that requires a commitment from participants of 4 hours per month. Our community service includes a combination of the following activities:

  • Plant identification
  • Birdlife
  • Aboriginal culture
  • Conservation
  • Navigation
  • Bush craft skills
  • Safety and first aid

As a result of our Mosman Youth Bush Club, we have connected hundreds of young Australians to the bushlands and beaches through conservation.

The youth bush school and a new project to boost biodiversity on Mosman’s harbour foreshores are two projects being funded by the Mosman Environmental Foundation’s (MEF) inaugural grants program.” Chairman, Dr David Robertson (MEF).
